Environmental requirements for imported solid waste in China from May 2018

Three standards for the safety of waste compactors finalised

In waste compactors faults in the compactor shaft are often resolved with no regard for operating and maintenance instructions. This repeatedly leads to serious or even fatal accidents. In order to improve the safety of waste compactor workers and to bring existing divergent national safety standards in line with Europe-wide recognised standards, in early 2009 European OSH institutions and manufacturers began, through the specially established CEN/TC 397 Project Committee for Waste Compactors, to formulate security requirements in the form of three standards.
